February 13, 2025- Actor and Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) chief Kamal Haasan is set to enter the Rajya Sabha after the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) nominated him from its quota. This move strengthens the alliance between DMK and MNM, indicating a broader political strategy ahead of future elections.

Following the announcement, Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin met Haasan at his residence to congratulate him. While addressing the media, Udhayanidhi called it a courtesy visit, while Haasan emphasized that their alliance was for the country's progress, not for positions.
