March 31, 2025: The Delhi High Court has stepped in to address a critical issue affecting medical aspirants. A plea was filed by several doctors who appeared for the Institute of National Importance Combined Entrance Test (INI-CET) January 2025 session, alleging that AIIMS failed to conduct the spot admission round for PG medical education despite vacant seats.
Justice Vikas Mahajan has taken cognizance of the matter and issued a notice to the Central government and AIIMS, Delhi, seeking their response to the plea. The court heard the plea on March 28 and has scheduled the next hearing for April 4.
The petitioners, who are doctors themselves, claim that AIIMS didn’t conduct the spot admission round, leaving several seats vacant. This has caused undue hardships to the aspirants who were hoping to secure admission to prestigious institutions like AIIMS.
The court’s intervention is a significant move, as it seeks to address the concerns of medical aspirants and ensure that the admission process is fair and transparent.
