April 1, 2025: As India and China celebrate 75 years of diplomatic ties, Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the significance of their partnership. In a congratulatory message to Indian President Droupadi Murmu, Xi described the relationship as a “Dragon-Elephant tango,” symbolizing harmonious cooperation between the two nations.
This milestone anniversary marks a significant moment in India-China relations. Despite past border disputes, both countries are working to strengthen ties and foster greater understanding. Xi highlighted the positive trajectory of bilateral ties, particularly after the 2020 border clash in the Himalayas.
The Chinese President urged both nations to focus on peaceful co- existence, cooperation and deepened communication. This, he believes will ensure peace and stability in border areas. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun echoed Xi’s sentiments, stressing the importance of India-China relations. He noted that both countries are ancient civilizations, major developing countries, and important members of the global south.
