March 28, 2025: A horrific murder took place in broad daylight at Dhakaibasti, Dhing, on the eve of Eid. The incident, which stemmed from a dispute over land and property, resulted in the brutal killing of Iman Hussain by his nephew and nephew-in-law.

According to sources, the conflict began last Wednesday afternoon when Abdul Barek and Khulshali Iman Hussain engaged in a heated argument over a land-related matter. Following the altercation, Abdul Barek called his sons from the char area, instructing them to launch an attack on Iman Hussain.

Shortly after, led by Abdul Barek, the group stormed into Iman Hussain’s house by breaking down the door. In a gruesome act of violence, they assaulted him with iron rods and sharp weapons, repeatedly striking him on the head and body. The attack took place in front of his wife and two young children, leaving them traumatized.

Iman Hussain’s wife and elderly mother were also targeted in the assault, though they managed to survive.

As a result of the brutal attack, Iman Hussain sustained severe injuries, including a fractured spinal cord and broken backbones. He was immediately rushed to Nagaon and later transferred to a private hospital in Guwahati. After battling for his life for a week, he succumbed to his injuries.

Following the murder, Iman Hussain’s family filed a complaint at the Dhing police station against the prime accused Abdul Barek and his sons—Mojzafar, Mojammel, Inamul, Ikramul, and Mehedi Alam. The police have managed to arrest one of the accused, while the others remain absconding.

Meanwhile, Iman Hussain’s family has conducted his funeral prayer (Janaza Namaz) after completing the post-mortem examination. The local community has been left in shock over the brutal nature of the crime, and police investigations are ongoing.
