March 13, 2025: In a landslide victory, the Bharatiya Janata Party has emerged as the clear winner in the Village Council General Election 2025 of the Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) in Mizoram.

The BJP’s impressive performance has left other parties trailing behind. The Mizo National Front (MNF) managed to win only 8 village councils and 46 seats, while the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) secured 12 village councils and 83 seats. Independent candidates won 2 village councils and 21 seats, and the Indian National Congress (INC) drew a blank, failing to win any seats.
In two village councils, the results were tied. The BJP’s sweeping victory in the CADC elections is a significant milestone in the party’s efforts to expand its presence in the Northeast region.
Amit Malviya, national convener of the IT cell of the Bharatiya Janata Party , said that north east is now almost “Congress-Mukt”, indicating a significant shift in the region’s political landscape. The BJP’s victory in the CADC elections is a testament to the party’s growing influence in the region.
