Arvind Kejriwal Alleges Plot to Arrest Delhi CM Atishi, Claims Central Agencies Targeting AAP

December 25, 2024: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal has made a sensational claim, accusing central probe agencies of conspiring to arrest Delhi Chief Minister Atishi in a fabricated case. Addressing a press conference alongside Atishi, Kejriwal alleged that a recent meeting between the CBI, ED, and Income Tax departments resulted in directives to target the chief minister. He described this as an attempt to derail the party ahead of the assembly elections.

Kejriwal asserted that these agencies had also been instructed to conduct raids on him, AAP spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj, and other party leaders. He called the actions a distraction designed to undermine AAP’s governance achievements and to create chaos during the election period.

The AAP leader criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing it of failing to deliver meaningful development during its tenure in Delhi. He said the BJP relied solely on criticising AAP and personal attacks against him to seek votes, while his party focused on a positive campaign based on its track record.

Kejriwal highlighted the recent welfare initiatives undertaken by the AAP government, including the Mahila Samman Yojana, which offers a ₹1,000 monthly allowance for women, and a program providing free medical treatment for senior citizens. He said the schemes had received overwhelming public support, which he claimed had rattled the BJP. Kejriwal also reaffirmed his commitment to women's welfare, declaring that he would not allow the free bus rides for women to be discontinued.

Atishi echoed Kejriwal’s allegations, stating that the BJP’s intent was to halt the popular welfare schemes by targeting her with false accusations. She expressed confidence in AAP’s governance and reiterated that the fabricated cases were an effort to undermine the progress made by the party in improving the lives of Delhi’s residents.

As the political landscape in Delhi intensifies ahead of the elections, Kejriwal’s allegations have added a new dimension to the already heated contest between AAP and BJP, with both sides gearing up for a high-stakes battle.
