December 25, 2024: In a show of solidarity, Allu Aravind, the renowned film producer and father of Pushpa 2 star Allu Arjun, has announced a financial support package worth ₹2 crore for the family of an eight-year-old boy, Sri Teja, who was injured in the tragic stampede at Sandhya Theatre on December 4.
The stampede occurred during a Pushpa 2 premiere event that was attended by Allu Arjun. The incident led to the heartbreaking death of Sri Teja's 35-year-old mother. Allu Arjun is currently under investigation and was questioned by police on Tuesday regarding his role in the tragic event.
The actor's father, Allu Aravind, along with film producer Dil Raju and other industry members, visited Sri Teja at a private hospital where he is being treated. Upon learning that the young boy is recovering and is no longer reliant on a ventilator, Aravind expressed relief. "The boy, Sri Teja, is recovering. Now he is not on a ventilator," he said, before announcing the ₹2 crore assistance for the family.
The financial support will be divided as follows: ₹1 crore will be provided by Allu Arjun, ₹50 lakh by Mythri Movie Makers, and ₹50 lakh by director Sukumar. The funds will be channeled through Dil Raju, the Chairman of the Telangana Film Development Corporation (FDC).
While Allu Aravind has not been able to interact directly with the family due to ongoing legal matters, he revealed that, with police permission, he visited Sri Teja about 10 days ago when the boy was showing signs of recovery.
Producer Dil Raju, who is also the FDC chairman, mentioned that a meeting is scheduled with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on the following day. The meeting will include prominent members of the film industry to discuss the incident and potential further support for those affected.
The tragic incident has cast a shadow over the release of Pushpa 2, but the announcement of this aid has brought a measure of support and hope to the grieving family.
