The World Cup-winner was recently hospitalised and underwent brain surgery to remove a blood clot and was released on 11 November.

His doctor, neurologist Leopoldo Luque, said that the problem likely was caused by an accident.

Maradona won the 1986 World Cup with Argentina and also played for Barcelona at club level as well as Napoli, who he helped, lead to the Serie A title.

He had celebrated his 60th Birthday on October 30 and had showed up that night for Gimnasia's national championship match against Patronato, which his team won 3-0.
