July 28, 2021: At a time when Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga is calling for peace and maintaining calm after the fierce firing and violence in the Assam-Mizoram border, Mizoram’s Rajya Sabha MP K Vanlalvena in an explosive statement has said that the Assam Police personnel were lucky that all of them did not get killed. “If they come back again, we shall kill them all,’ Vanlalvena said.



The MP was commenting on the non-stop police firing for about 30 minutes that left 6 Assam police personnel and a civilian dead and several others seriously injured.





According to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Mizoram Police used Light Machine Guns and the firing went on for 30-35 minutes. Assam Police personnel including the then Cachar SP Vaibhav Nilbalkar was caught aware by the fierce firing that left him and several others grievously injured.  Over 60 Assam Police personnel were injured in the firing.

Earlier in the day, CM Zoranthanga had tweeted requesting for peace and maintaining calm. He had also posted videos of people from Assam at a Covid vaccine centre in Mizoram and wrote that “Assam brethren” are receiving shots at a centre in a church in Mizoram.





The MP’s statement has come at a time when the Assam and Mizoram CMs are trying to establish peace and the Centre is trying to resolve the inter-state border dispute through talks and discussions.
