July 27, 2021: An angry mob set Moreh Police commando complex on fire after commando personnel allegedly beat a man and put him at Moreh Police Station for violating curfew.

The Moreh Police commando complex is located at Manipur’s Border town.

As per sources, one Mapao who worked at Telecom Moreh was stopped in front of SBI bank around 4.30 pm on Monday by commando personnel who were on duty.

Mapao, who alleged that the commando personnel has beaten him while he was going to work, called for help on his phone.

Later, a huge mob gathered shortly at the Police Station. When Police told the mob that they are free to take Mapao out of the station, they reportedly declined the offer and demanded to handover the commando personnel involved in the incident.

According to sources, a large mob stormed the commando complex and started kicking down the gate in the late evening same day. The mob also threw burning tires into the complex and started the fire.

Sources informed that the commando barrack and bunkers caught fire while the police personnel had no option but to lock the gate and stay inside.
