January 6, 2025: In a significant breakthrough, the Dillai police seized a large quantity of heroin during a special night search operation, thwarting a major drug smuggling attempt. The operation took place on a night bus (MN 07 H 0011), where officers uncovered a secret compartment used to conceal the illicit drugs.

The police arrested the bus driver and handyman, along with two smugglers identified as Aamir Khan and Shehzad, both residents of Manipur. The smugglers were en route from Manipur to Guwahati when they were intercepted.

Authorities recovered 100 packets of heroin, weighing approximately 1 kilogram and 200 grams in total. The estimated market value of the seized heroin is around ₹9 crore.

This successful operation highlights the vigilance of the Dillai police in combating drug trafficking. A spokesperson for the police commended the team for their dedication and reiterated their commitment to curbing the drug menace in the region.
