August 8, 2024 An appeal has been submitted to the Supreme Court seeking a delay in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – Postgraduate (NEET-PG) 2024, set to take place on August 11, 2024. The petitioner has raised concerns about the challenges applicants encounter due to the delayed assignment of exam cities. The petition is set to be heard by the Supreme Court tomorrow, on August 9.
The Supreme Court agreed to schedule the hearing for tomorrow after the petitioner's lawyer, advocate Anas Tanwir, brought it up to Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud. A large number of candidates in similar situations have been assigned cities that are extremely difficult for them to access and are now asking for information on how the four sets of question papers will be normalized, as well as clarification on making sure that the normalization formula is shared with all candidates to prevent any unfairness in the process, according to the request.
Moreover, the test will take place in two separate groups, and the method for standardization remains undisclosed to the candidates, causing worry among those who signed the petition. The petition aims to ensure equity and avoid possible irregularities in the NEET PG 2024 exam.
Another important event has occurred, with reports spreading on social media that the NEET PG exam paper has been leaked shortly before the scheduled date. Nevertheless, the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has affirmed that the question paper has not been compromised and that "such allegations are inaccurate and deceptive."
