The decision was taken after its newly introduced 'all-veg' service sparked a massive online debate, with many criticising the move

March 20, 2024: Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal on Wednesday announced that all riders of the food delivery giant should wear the usual red-coloured t-shirts.

The decision has been taken after its newly-introduced 'all-veg' service sparked a massive online debate, with many criticising the move.

Taking to Twitter, the CEO said, “While we are going to continue to have a fleet for vegetarians, we have decided to remove the on-ground segregation of this fleet on the ground using the colour green. All our riders — both our regular fleet, and our fleet for vegetarians, will wear the colour red.  This means that the fleet meant for vegetarian orders will not be identifiable on the ground (but will show on the app that your veg orders will be served by the veg only fleet).”

According to CEO, The green uniform decision was made to ensure the physical safety of their delivery partners. He agreed that the green uniforms could have led to delivery partners being incorrectly associated with non-vegetarian food and being blocked by certain societies or RWAs during special days.
