February 6, 2025: Zomato is set for a major rebranding, as the company’s board has approved renaming it to Eternal Ltd., CEO Deepinder Goyal announced in a letter to shareholders. Despite the corporate name change, the popular food delivery brand will continue to be called Zomato.
Goyal described the move as a significant step in Zomato’s expansion beyond food delivery. The idea of "Eternal" first emerged internally after the company acquired Blinkit, differentiating the parent company from its growing portfolio of brands.
"We also thought that we would publicly rename the company to Eternal the day something beyond Zomato became a significant driver of our future. Today, with Blinkit, I feel we are there," Goyal stated.
The announcement comes just weeks after Zomato entered the BSE Sensex on December 23, marking a historic milestone as the first Indian tech startup to achieve this feat. Goyal noted that the recognition brings "a heightened sense of responsibility" alongside the honor.
Under the Eternal Ltd. umbrella, the company will oversee four key businesses: Zomato, Blinkit, District, and Hyperpure. Once shareholders approve the transition, the corporate website will shift from zomato.com to eternal.com, and the stock ticker will change from ZOMATO to ETERNAL.
Calling "Eternal" a name with both promise and paradox, Goyal emphasized that the rebranding is not just about a name but a deeper mission. "True permanence isn’t built on bold claims of invincibility or the swagger of success. It’s a reminder etched into our identity that we will endure—not because we are here, but because we need to get there," he said.
With this transformation, Eternal Ltd. aims to solidify its presence beyond food delivery and establish itself as a dominant force in India’s tech and e-commerce ecosystem.
