March 3, 2025: Two days after the shocking discovery of Congress worker Himani Narwal’s body inside a suitcase in Haryana, police have arrested one person in connection with the case.

According to sources, the arrested individual, a resident of Bahadurgarh, Haryana, was allegedly in a relationship with Himani. Preliminary investigations suggest that Himani had been blackmailing the accused and had extorted lakhs of rupees from him. It has also been revealed that the suitcase in which her body was found belonged to her, and the murder took place at her residence in Haryana.

Following the arrest, Himani’s family has demanded the death penalty for the accused. Her brother, Jatin, stated that the family would proceed with her cremation today. However, her uncle, Ravinder, insisted that the family would not cremate her until the identity of the accused is revealed.

Himani’s body was discovered near the Sampla bus stand just a day before the municipal elections. The 22-year-old had actively participated in Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra, and her death has triggered calls for a high-level investigation by Congress members.

Meanwhile, Himani’s mother, Savita, has alleged that fellow Congress workers may have played a role in her daughter’s murder. She claimed that some party members might have felt threatened by Himani’s growing political influence and her proximity to senior leaders, including Rahul Gandhi.

“My daughter dedicated herself to the Congress party. Many leaders would visit our house. Some might have been involved in her murder because they saw her as a political threat,” she said.

Savita revealed that Himani had been associated with Congress for the past decade and even traveled with Rahul Gandhi to Srinagar during the Bharat Jodo Yatra. She last spoke to her daughter on February 27 and claimed that Himani was supposed to attend a rally by former Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda on February 28.

As investigations continue, the case has sparked widespread political outrage and demands for justice for the young Congress worker.
