SC Lifts Ban on Ranveer Allahbadia’s Podcast with Strict Conditions

March 3, 2025: The Supreme Court on Monday granted permission to YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia to resume uploading his podcasts and shows on social media, albeit with certain conditions.

The court had previously directed Allahbadia to halt his content following a controversy sparked by his remarks on comedian Samay Raina's YouTube show, India's Got Latent. The comments led to multiple FIRs and public backlash, prompting legal scrutiny.

Allahbadia petitioned the court, arguing that his podcast was his primary source of livelihood. Acknowledging this, the SC lifted the ban but imposed restrictions to prevent further contentious content.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Cyber and Mumbai Police continue their investigation into the case. On Monday, both Allahbadia and fellow YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani appeared separately before the Maharashtra Cyber to record their statements regarding the obscenity case registered against them and others.

During questioning, Allahbadia admitted to making inappropriate remarks and acknowledged the criticism he faced. He also stated that his intention was not to offend and that he attended Raina's show as a friend, without any monetary incentive.

The court has yet to disclose the exact conditions for Allahbadia’s return to content creation, but legal experts suggest they may include content monitoring and adherence to stricter guidelines on speech and expression.
