Terror Strikes Intensify in Jammu & Kashmir: CRPF Soldier Killed, Multiple Injured in Latest Attacks

June 12, 2024: In a grim escalation of violence in Jammu and Kashmir, a paramilitary CRPF soldier was killed and six others injured in a series of terrorist attacks over the past few days. Late last night, terrorists attacked a village in Kathua, sparking an intense encounter that continues into this morning. One terrorist has been eliminated while the security forces are using drones to locate another. During the attack, one civilian was injured. Anand Jain, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Jammu zone, is overseeing the anti-terrorist operations in the area.

In a separate incident in Doda, five soldiers and a special police officer (SPO) were injured when terrorists opened fire at a joint party of police and Rashtriya Rifles at an army base in Chattargala. The gunfight, which started overnight, is ongoing in the higher reaches of the region.

Just two days prior, a tragic attack on a bus carrying pilgrims to the Shiv Khori cave temple in Reasi resulted in the vehicle plunging into a gorge after the driver, under fire from terrorists, lost control. Nine passengers were killed and 33 others injured. Officials attributed the attack to Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Abu Hamza.

ADGP Jain has described the Kathua incident as a "fresh infiltration," implying involvement from Pakistan, without directly naming the country. He emphasized that the region, which had been relatively peaceful, is now under increased threat from terrorist activities. Jammu remains on high alert as security forces continue their operations to neutralize the threats and restore calm to the region.
