Three Young Men Killed in a Tragic Road Accident in Morigaon

April 2, 2025: Morigaon was shaken by a devastating road accident on Tuesday night that claimed the lives of three young men from the same village. The accident took place at Sonari village on the Morigaon-Nagaon connecting road when an unidentified vehicle, suspected to be a Bolero pickup truck, hit a motorcycle carrying three youths and fled the scene without stopping.

The victims, identified as Sajidul, Dipmoni, and Sabid, were all residents of Morimushlim village in Morigaon. The three were traveling towards Nagaon on a motorcycle bearing the registration number AS 01FL 5689 when the speeding vehicle rammed into them. The impact was so severe that Dipmoni and Sabid died on the spot, while Sajidul sustained critical injuries. He was immediately rushed to Morigaon Civil Hospital for treatment. However, as his condition worsened, he was referred to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). Due to the unavailability of ICU facilities at GMCH, he was shifted to a private hospital, where he eventually succumbed to his injuries.

The sudden deaths of the three young men have cast a shadow of grief over their families and the entire Morimushlim village. The loss is particularly painful as all three were hardworking individuals, striving to build a better future. Sajidul ran a computer DTP shop, while Sabid worked as a tailor in Guwahati. Their untimely deaths have left their families shattered.

Following the accident, senior officials from the police and the transport department visited the scene and launched an investigation to trace the runaway vehicle. The incident has once again highlighted the dangers of reckless driving on the Morigaon highway, which has witnessed multiple fatalities in the past due to speeding transport vehicles.

As the investigation continues, the villagers have come together to prepare for a collective funeral (Janaza) for the three deceased. The last rites will be performed at the Morimushlim village cemetery after the completion of post-mortem formalities. The tragic accident serves as a painful reminder of the need for stricter enforcement of traffic laws to prevent such heartbreaking incidents in the future.
