February 21, 2024: At least six persons including the bride have been detained by Assam Police for involvement in child marriage in Golakganj on Tuesday night.

Reportedly, Assam Police has detained the groom identified as Ainul Haque who is a father of two children. A man identified as Shahabuddin Mir has been detained for attempting to perform the child marriage. Three more persons identified as Rafiq Sarkar, Najrul Sheikh and Dhanuddin Sheikh have also been detained.

Assam Police detained the bride, groom and parents from the wedding venue during a search operation against child-marriage.
