September 1, 2023: At least seven Assam Police personnel were detained on charges of demanding money in Bajali on Friday.

Reportedly, the seven detained police personnel have been identified as APS officer Puskal Gogoi, Patacharkuchi OC Anupjyoti Patir, Bhawanipur Police Outpost OC Debajit Giri, Patacharkuchi ASI Sasanka Das, Constable Injamamul Hassan, Bajali SP’s driver Dibjoy Roy and Nabir Ahmed.

All of them have been brought to Guwahati for questioning at the CID office.

Taking to X, DGP GP Singh informed, “Reference Bajali incident -  @assampoliceHq had received a complaint of demand for money by some police officers of @BajaliPolice in the first week of August. @DIR_VAC_ASSAM was directed to lay a trap but couldn’t succeed since police officers were careful. However, the complaint was found to be prima facie true. “
