March 28, 2025: Guwahati witnessed a shocking kidnapping case when a man, identified as Fakhruddin Bhuyan, was abducted while coming to watch an IPL match. Fakhruddin, a resident of Barpeta, had traveled to Guwahati for the game when he was forcefully taken away by a group of five youths from Bhagadattapur.

Following an intensive investigation, Dispur police successfully traced Fakhruddin's whereabouts and rescued him from Umiam in Meghalaya. In a major breakthrough, the police also arrested all five accused involved in the abduction.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Abul Hussain, Abul Nazar, Sahir Ahmed, Abu Kashem, and Abdul Hanan. All of them are residents of Nagaon.

Authorities are currently investigating the motive behind the kidnapping and further legal proceedings are underway. The incident has sparked concerns over safety in the city, especially during high-profile events like IPL matches.
