January 23, 2025: A tragic accident at Law University, Amingaon, claimed the life of a 35-year-old woman and left two others injured late last night.

The deceased, identified as Lima Das from Pasaria in Kamrup district, was riding her two-wheeler (AS 01 EA 0387) when it was struck by a speeding Swift DZire (AS 01 DG 9764). The impact was severe, resulting in fatal injuries to Lima Das.

Two others, Papu Bania of Ghoramara and Dharmendra Mahatu of Madhyamkhanda, sustained injuries in the accident. All the victims were rushed to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) by Amingaon police, who promptly arrived at the scene.

Eyewitnesses reported that the driver of the Swift DZire appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, raising concerns about reckless driving. Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to the tragedy.

The incident has sparked outrage among locals, who are demanding stricter enforcement of traffic laws to prevent such avoidable accidents.
