September 11, 2023: In a joint operation carried out by the Railway Police and Crime Investigation Department (CID), nine peddlers were detained from a moving train in Lumding, Assam in the wee hours of Monday morning.



Reportedly, 430 gms of brown sugar worth Rs 86 lakh have been seized by the police. Police have also recovered some mobile phones, bags and some important materials from the detained persons which they had stolen from the passengers.



The detained persons have been identified as Dilwar Hussain, Asad Ali, Masuq Hussain, Newton Das, Murchid Ali, Bipul Das, Mukesh Kumar, Anwar Hussain and Sankar Dutta.



Firstly, two persons were caught from Vivek Express. Later after interrogation, the remaining seven people were caught in Dimapur Railway Station. All the detained peddlers are residents of Nagaon and Dimapur.
