July 3, 2020: In a recent development, the car which fell into the river from a bridge in Silapathar has been recovered by the team of SDRF on Friday.

The dead body of duo father and daughter named as Tankeswar Kalita and Kuku Kalita who were stuck in the car have been recovered but the driver namely Niranjan Mahato is still missing.

Reportedly, the accident took place at Sisibargaon in Silapathar region on Thursday. The accident happened as the railing of the bridge over Gelua River was broken following which the car fell down and went under water.

The family of Tankeswar Kalita from Lakhimpur's Lilabari was coming to Silapathar to attend a marriage.

Earlier, locals rescued two members who were identified as Sarumai Kalita and Riki Kalita.

As per reports, SDRF team is still operating to rescue the other person from under water.
