The report gets released on International Day of Happiness (March 20).

Finland maintained its position of the happiest country for the sixth time followed by Denmark and Iceland who secured second and third positions. On the other hand, Afghanistan bagged the last rank.

The report is determined based on Gross Domestic Product (GDP), social support, healthy life expectancy at birth, generosity, and people’s perception of corruption.

India becomes the least happy country because it has scored low in GDP per capita, social support, and healthy life expectancy. Rapid urbanization and rise in crime against women and minorities are also two main factors for low score.
