India, US sign critical defence agreements to enhance strategic partnership

August 23, 2024: India and the US signed two key agreements to enhance their strategic partnership as defence minister Rajnath Singh began a four-day visit to Washington. The agreements are the Security of Supplies Arrangement (SOSA) and a Memorandum of Agreement regarding the Assignment of Liaison Officers, aimed at bolstering defence cooperation between the two nations.



The ministry of defence (MoD) made the announcement through a post on X, sharing photographs from the event held on Thursday.



These agreements were signed by Senior defence officials from both sides-Dr Vic Ramdass, principal deputy assistant secretary of defence for Industrial Base Policy representing the US, and Samir KyKumar Sinha, additional secretary and director general (Acquisitions) representing India.
