All the Indian nationals are urged to avoid travelling to those regions and potential venues in Canada

September 20, 2023: India on Wednesday advised its nationals and students residing in Canada to exercise utmost caution in view of anti-India activities in some parts of that country.

According to the release issued by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), all Indian nationals are urged to avoid travelling to those regions and potential venues in Canada.

This notice was issued amid growing tensions between India and Canada after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau alleged that the Indian Government played a major role in killing the Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

Hardeep Singh Nijjar who was the chief of the banned Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF) and one of India's most-wanted terrorists was shot dead on June 18 by two unidentified gunmen outside a gurdwara in Surrey in the western Canadian province of British Columbia.

India on Tuesday expelled a senior Canadian diplomat in a reciprocal move after Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly informed that an Indian diplomat in Canada was expelled over allegations of the country’s involvement in the killing of the Khalistani leader.

Meanwhile, India rejected the allegations as “absurd and motivated” and asked the Canadian Diplomat to leave India within the next five days.
