Indian Army Gears Up for Maha Kumbh 2025 with Enhanced Medical Facilities

December 26, 2024: The Indian Army has announced an extensive medical support system to ensure the safety and well-being of millions of pilgrims expected to attend the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, set to begin on January 13, 2025.

In preparation for the world’s largest religious gathering, the Army has established a 50-bed facility at the Military Hospital in Prayagraj, designed to provide immediate healthcare services to participants. Additionally, a 45-bed crisis expansion facility has been set up in the old cantonment area to address medical emergencies and enhance response capabilities during the event.

The Army’s role extends beyond infrastructure, with expert medical teams collaborating with civil authorities to manage infectious diseases and control potential health risks during the Kumbh. At the Ordnance Depot (OD) Fort, a mobile evacuation team equipped with round-the-clock services, including two ventilator-supported beds, has been stationed to offer critical care and rapid response when needed.

To provide immediate assistance on the ground, a fully equipped Class-1 Medical Assistance Post has been established at the Mela site. This initiative ensures that pilgrims can access healthcare support seamlessly during the course of the event.

Group Captain Samir Gangakhedkar, Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Defence, emphasized the Army's commitment to the success of the event, stating, "The Indian Army's participation in Maha Kumbh 2025 reflects our unwavering commitment to national service and humanity. Our goal is to provide pilgrims with a safe, healthy, and memorable experience."

The Maha Kumbh Mela, held every 12 years, is set to run until February 26, 2025. Drawing millions of devotees from across the world, it is a significant spiritual gathering marked by ritualistic dips in sacred rivers and a vibrant display of Indian culture and devotion. With the Army’s meticulous planning and resources, this year’s event is expected to proceed smoothly, ensuring a secure and enriching experience for all attendees.
