September 9, 2023: At least 296 people have been killed after a powerful earthquake of magnitude 6.8 hit Morocco on Friday night.
According to sources, over 150 people were injured in the earthquake and sent to the hospitals for their treatment.
The earthquake took place at a depth of 18.5 km. The epicentre is 72 kilometres west of Marrakesh, a major economic centre.
The earthquake hit six provinces in the Atlas Mountains in the centre of Morocco and many buildings have been collapsed.
Several earthquake-related videos have been circulating on social media.
