Student Arrested for Forging NEET Marks to Gain Admission at Madurai AIIMS

October 30, 2024: In a startling case of academic fraud, a 22-year-old student from Himachal Pradesh, identified as Abhishek, was arrested along with his father while attempting to enroll at Madurai AIIMS using a forged NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) scorecard. The incident took place at the institute's temporary location within the Ramanathapuram District Government Medical College.

Abhishek presented a doctored marksheet claiming an impressive score of 660 out of 720. However, college officials grew suspicious due to the high score in relation to his geographic background, which typically would not secure a place in the highly competitive North Indian medical colleges.

A police investigation revealed that Abhishek had previously attempted the NEET exam three times, scoring only 60 marks on his last attempt and failing to pass the test twice. The forged documents were designed to misrepresent his academic performance significantly.

The Kenikarai Police have launched a thorough investigation into the matter, which may be linked to a larger network of fraudsters operating out of Delhi. These individuals are reportedly running coaching centers that assist students in fabricating scores and academic documents. Evidence from Abhishek's email communications suggests potential connections to these illicit operations.
