October 30, 2024: A violent confrontation unfolded on Wednesday as a gangster was shot dead during an exchange of fire with police in Amritsar. The incident occurred when Gursharan and another gangster, Paras, along with an accomplice, were being escorted to a location for the recovery of weapons linked to a murder case.

According to officials, the gangsters had previously concealed firearms in the bushes. As police attempted to conduct the recovery, Gursharan and Paras overpowered the officers, seized the hidden guns, and opened fire, prompting the police to respond in self-defense.

Deputy Inspector General of Police Satinder Singh confirmed that Gursharan was killed during the exchange, while Paras managed to flee by jumping into a nearby river. Law enforcement is currently conducting a search operation to locate him.

The police had brought the gangsters to the designated recovery site based on their statements, but the situation escalated rapidly, resulting in the deadly confrontation.
