November 9,2022: 3 people dead after a magnitude 6.6 earthquake hit Doti district of West Nepal in the early hours of Wednesday.



The far west district of Nepal has experienced three tremors, two earthquakes and one after shock in the past 24 hours.



 The first earthquake of 5.7 magnitude was recorded at 9:07PM (local time) on Tuesday followed by another at 9:56 PM(local time) measuring 4.1 in Richter scale.



The third tremor struck at around 2:12 AM measuring 6.6 in the Richter scale which resulted in the lost of three lives after a house collapsed. The tremors were also felt in India’s capital New Delhi and its surrounding area.

An earthquake of magnitude 5.1 hit Nepal’s capital Kathmandu on October 19th at around 2:52 PM. Another quake measuring 6.0 took place at Kathmandu at July 31st.



Earlier in 2015, a 7.8 magnitude high intensity earthquake struck Nepal between its capital Kathmandu and city of Pokhra. This earthquake claimed the lives of 8964 people and 22000 people were seriously injured. The ‘Gorkha’ earthquake shook several cities in Pakistan, Tibet, India and Bangladesh.



The earthquake in recent years have cost unprecedented damage to lives and property and have demanded for well framed policy measures to manage such disasters.
