November 10,2022: 11 people died in a fire incident in M.Nirufehige in Maldives,early Thursday. 8 of the deceased were Indian while one person was from Bangladesh. The nationality of the other two victims is yet to be known. The deceased were trapped in their rooms and bathroom.



 The incident was reported to the police at about 12:17 AM (local time) and informed to Maldives national defense force (MNDF) at around 12:30 AM. The fire and rescue team had reached the spot by 12:33 AM and the situation was under control by 4:34 AM. The cause of fire is yet to be known.

One of the two people who were taken to the hospital for treatment had died while the second person is in critical condition. The hospital confirmed that 10 bodies were found in the building.



Ibrahim Rasheed, Maldives National Defense Force(MNDF)'s fire and rescue service commender said that the incident happened in a building where a large number of Indians, Srilankans and Bangladeshi migrant workers lived. He confirmed that 10 out of the 11 were recovered from the building and their gender is hard to identify.
