April 26, 2024: Amid voting for second phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2024, hundreds of passengers have been stranded for hours at Lumding Railway Station in Assam due to train derailment.

Reportedly, a freight train derailed between Jatinga and Lumpur railway station in Dima Hasao district. Following this, all the trains of Shillong-Lumding and Shillong-Guwahati have been suspended.

As per sources, many passengers who were heading towards their hometown for voting and came to vote during the first phase got stranded at the station.
