UK hospital left stunned by Indian Radiographer’s Lack of Basic Skills

March 18,2025: A startling revelation came to light at a UK hospital when a seasoned radiographer from India, Smitha Johny, demonstrated a shocking lack of fundamental skills. Despite claiming 23 years of experience in the field, Johny struggled to perform even the most basic tasks, leaving her colleagues surprised.

Johny, who moved to the UK, had applied to join the Health and Care Professions register in 2021. However, when she began working at North Downs Hospitals in Caterham, her incompetence quickly became apparent. Staff were perplexed by her unfamiliarity with standard procedures, prompting concerns about her expertise.

A subsequent investigation revealed that Johny had misrepresented her work experience. Instead of working as a radiographer in India, she had actually been employed at a hospital reception desk.

Johny’s struggles in India were manifold, she faltered in operating the X-ray machine, failed to recognize essential buttons, and was unable to perform a basic foot X-ray correctly.

After a mere three months, Johny was deemed unfit to work as a radiographer and subsequently resigned from her position. She later revealed that her primary role in India had been managerial, involving patient check-ins at reception.
