March 15, 2025: Donald Trump’s administration is considering imposing travel restrictions on citizens from 41 countries, categorising them into 3 groups. 10 countries including Afghanistan, Syria, Iran, North Korea will face total visa ban, which means their citizens will be totally barred from entering the United States.
The second group consists of 5 countries which will face partial ban, affecting tourist, student and other visas.
If security deficiencies aren’t addressed, 26 countries will be at risk of partial visa suspension.
This proposed travel ban echoes Trump’s first-term ban on travellers from seven Muslim majority countries, which underwent multiple-revisions before being upheld by the Supreme Court in 2018
