Two Trainee Army officers robbed, woman friend gang-raped in Madhya Pradesh

September 12, 2024: On Wednesday, two trainee Army officers were thrashed and one of their two women friends was allegedly gang-raped by armed miscreants when they were out on a picnic in Madhya Pradesh's Indore district.

According to the police complaint, the incident happened when the two Major-rank officers, who were undergoing training at Army War College in the district's Mhow Cantonment, went out for a picnic along with two female friends in the Jam Gate area.

When the group reached the area, at least eight to ten men, armed with pistols, knives, and sticks, surrounded their car. They assaulted the two Army officers and their friends, the complaint said. The attackers also snatched their wallets and other valuable items, police said.

The miscreants then held one officer and one woman hostage, and sent the other officer and woman away to fetch a ransom of Rs 10 lakh for their release.

The officer who was released by the attackers informed his Commanding Officer (CO) about the incident, after which the police were alerted and reached the spot.

As the police reached the spot, the attackers fled the scene. All four people were brought to Mhow Civil Hospital for medical examination and, as per doctors, there were signs of injuries on the officers' bodies. One of the women was also gang-raped by the attackers, the medical report confirmed.

After the incident, a case was filed under sections of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) related to loot, dacoity, rape and Arms Act.

Two accused were arrested by the Indore Police, and ten teams were also constituted to arrest the remaining accused.
