June 6, 2023: During the occasion of World Environment Day, a firing incident took place at Assam-Arunachal Border in Dhemaji on Monday where at least two Assamese youths have been killed and several people have been injured.



Reportedly, the tension erupted in the area immediately after the firing took place over a boundary dispute.



The deceased have been identified as Boga Chetia and Manitu Gogoi and the injured persons have been identified as Puspa Gogoi and Jagat Gogoi.



The injured persons - Pushpa and Jagat are currently undergoing treatment at Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH).

According to sources, five people have been arrested in connection to the case.



Taking to Twitter, Assam Police DGP GP Singh informed, “Reference the firing incident at the Assam-Arunachal border in Dhemaji & Gogamukh PS case No. 63/23 u/s 147/148/302/326/307 IPC r/w 25 (1) (a)/27 (3) of Arms Act - Arunachal Police has arrested 5 accused persons. @assampolice would take them in custody following due procedure. @DGPAssamPolice @CMOfficeAssam”.
