December 23, 2024: Three Khalistani terrorists, accused of an attack on a police post in Gurdaspur, Punjab, were killed in an early morning encounter with police in Uttar Pradesh’s Pilibhit district on Monday, December 23.
The terrorists, identified as Gurvinder Singh (25), Virender Singh alias Ravi (23), and Jaspreet Singh alias Pratap Singh (18), were affiliated with the banned Khalistan Commando Force (KCF). They were neutralized in a joint operation between the Punjab Police and Uttar Pradesh Police.
The operation followed a tip-off from the Punjab Police, who informed Pilibhit Police about the suspects' location in the Puranpur area. The police also received intelligence about three men in possession of suspicious items in the area. Upon cornering the suspects, the accused opened fire on the police, leading to a retaliatory exchange in which all three were killed.
In addition to the bodies, the police recovered two AK-47 rifles, two Glock pistols, and multiple rounds of live ammunition from the terrorists.
A senior official from Pilibhit Police confirmed the details of the encounter and stated that investigations are underway. The official also revealed that the suspects had foreign connections, prompting a broader inquiry into their activities.
This operation follows an explosion on December 21 at an abandoned police post in Kalanaur sub-division, Gurdaspur, believed to be linked to the same group. While the blast caused no casualties or property damage, it heightened concerns about the ongoing threat posed by extremist factions in the region.
Authorities are continuing their probe into the case, with both local and international connections being examined.
