Gangrape and Fraud Case Filed Against UP BJP MLA and 15 Others, Legislator Denies Allegations

December 23, 2024: A gangrape and fraud case has been filed against BJP MLA Harish Shakya and 15 other individuals in Uttar Pradesh's Badaun district, following an order from a local court. The case includes charges of gangrape, fraud amounting to crores of rupees, and wrongful implication of the complainant in false cases. The legislator has denied the allegations, calling them a "political conspiracy."

The FIR, which has been registered at the local police station, identifies Harish Shakya, the MLA representing the Bilsi constituency in Badaun, as a central figure in the case. His brother, Satendra Shakya, and his nephew, along with several businessmen, are also named as accused in the complaint.

The dispute at the heart of the case involves land owned by a man named Lalit Kumar. According to the complainant, the MLA and his associates attempted to coerce the family into selling the land at a price of Rs 16.5 crore, significantly below its market value of Rs 18 crore. When the family refused, the accused allegedly retaliated with a series of actions, including filing false charges of murder and rape against them, in addition to threats and coercion.

The complainant further alleged that the MLA and his associates unlawfully took control of portions of the family's land. The most serious accusation in the FIR is that MLA Harish Shakya and two of his associates gangraped the complainant's wife at the MLA's camp office on September 17.

Confirming the filing of the case, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Brijesh Kumar Singh stated that a case has been registered against the 16 accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), following the court's directions.

In response to the charges, MLA Harish Shakya has categorically denied the allegations, claiming that the entire matter is a fabricated conspiracy aimed at tarnishing his reputation and position in the political arena.

Authorities have assured a thorough investigation into the matter, with police promising to take all necessary steps to ensure justice. The case has attracted significant attention in the region, and further developments are awaited as the investigation unfolds.
