February 26, 2025: Terrorists opened fire on an Indian Army vehicle in the Sunderbani area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district on Wednesday, triggering a security alert in the region.
The attack took place at around 1 pm near Phall village along the Sunderbani-Malla Road, a forested area close to the Line of Control (LoC), known for militant infiltration attempts. According to official reports, unidentified terrorists fired one or two rounds at a patrolling vehicle belonging to the 9 JAK Rifles regiment.
No casualties have been reported so far, but security forces have launched a massive search operation in the region. The entire area has been cordoned off, and additional reinforcements have been deployed to track down the attackers.
“At around 1300 hours, an army vehicle came under fire in the forest area near a water tank in Village Phall,” officials said, adding that the army remains on high alert following the incident.
A Defence spokesperson confirmed the firing incident but refrained from sharing further details.
The attack highlights the persistent security challenges in the Jammu region, particularly in districts like Rajouri and Poonch, which have witnessed increased militant activity in recent years. Security forces remain vigilant as counter-terror operations continue in the area.
