January 23, 2025: South Salmara Mankachar district police conducted a significant drugs disposal program, burning narcotics worth ₹6.49 crore in an organized event held in the district.
Four police stations and three outposts collaborated to destroy the confiscated drugs, which included 118.79 grams of heroin, 94,810 capsules, 24,217 tablets, 1,981 bottles of phlegm syrup, 33.72 kilograms of ganja, and 12 injections.
The event was attended by prominent district officials, including SP Haren Takbi, Additional SP Pratap Das, Deputy SP Chandra Kumar Kalita, Naim Uddin, and Anshul Sharma. Also present were Joint Director of the District Health Department Dr. Minhas Chowdhury, Assistant Commissioner Pappu Gogoi, and representatives from the involved police stations and outposts.
This program is part of the district police's ongoing efforts to curb drug abuse and illegal narcotics trafficking in the region. The initiative underscores the administration's commitment to eradicating the drug menace and promoting a drug-free society.
