January 15, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Sri Sri Radha Madanmohanji Temple, a landmark initiative by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai. The sprawling nine-acre temple complex is designed to blend spiritual devotion with community service, housing a Vedic education centre, an auditorium, and a healing centre.
The Prime Minister performed a puja at the temple before addressing the gathering. Highlighting the temple's significance, he said, "With ISKCON's efforts, Sri Sri Radha Madanmohanji Temple is being inaugurated here on this great land of knowledge and devotion. I am fortunate to have received the virtue of playing a role in such a ritual."
PM Modi praised the dedication of ISKCON's saints and priests in realizing the vision of the temple. He noted the temple's role in promoting universal values, stating, "India is a living culture, a living tradition, and the consciousness of culture is its spirituality. The spirit of service is at the core of all our religious texts and scriptures. Our government is also working with the same spirit of service and complete dedication throughout the country."
The temple complex aims to foster universal brotherhood, peace, and harmony through Vedic teachings, as noted in a statement from the Prime Minister's Office. Future developments include museums and additional cultural spaces to enhance its offerings.
The inauguration marks a significant addition to ISKCON's global efforts to inspire devotion and community welfare through spiritual education.
