August 17, 2022: Rohingya refugees from Myanmar in Delhi will be allotted apartments and provided with police protection, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said on Wednesday.

"India has always welcomed those who have sought refuge," Puri, Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, said on Twitter, outlining new provisions for Rohingya refugees in New Delhi.

Sources said that RSS and VHP has opposed the move and is unhappy with Union Minister Puri.

Government sources said that the refugees are being given shelter, they are being given the flats but not the ownership of the flats.
