March 12, 2025: PM Narendra Modi, the chief guest at Mauritius National Day celebrations, has been conferred the grand commander of the order of the Star and key of the Indian Ocean, the highest National honor of Mauritius. This prestigious award is a testament to strong bond between India and Mauritius.
Upon his arrival in Port Louise on Tuesday, Modi was warmly welcomed, setting the tone for a productive two-day visit. During his speech, Modi eloquently expressed India’s deep connection with Mauritius, stating, “Mauritius isn’t just a partner country, but a family for us.”
A significant development of Modi’s visit was the joint inauguration of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Public Service and Innovation, alongside the PM of Mauritius.
This institute will serve as a vibrant hub for learning, research and public services, further solidifying the shared commitment of both nations to progress and development.
In another landmark development, Modi and his Mauritian counterpart, PM Navinchandra Ramgoolam, engaged in comprehensive discussions on the India-Mauritius friendship, culminating in the decision to elevate their partnership to an Enhanced Strategic Partnership. This significant milestone underscores the growing bilateral relationship between the two nations.
