June 3, 2023: At least 16 people were critically injured after an attack launched by the suspected heavily armed Kuki Militants on multiple villages of Meitei community in Manipur on Friday.

Out of 16, 14 people have been currently receiving treatment at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) and other two have been admitted to Raj Medicity for their bullet injuries sustained on various body parts, including the chest, left shoulder, right hand, left hand, and left arm.

According to some reports, some of the eyewitnesses from the area reported that the Kuki militants unleashed the assault on Kangchup Chingkhong village, using weaponry such as firearms, two-inch mortars, and lethal bombs.

The attack sparked a fierce gun battle between the Kuki militants and a combined force of Imphal West commandos and Manipur Rifles personnel.
