September 28, 2024: In a significant escalation of hostilities, Israeli military forces have reported the death of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah following targeted airstrikes on Beirut. Israeli military spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Nadav Shoshani confirmed the news on social media platform X, stating, “Hassan Nasrallah is dead.”
Reports indicate that communications with Nasrallah were lost late Friday night, according to a source close to the militant group, which has been a central figure in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.
The Israeli strikes were a direct response to a series of rocket attacks launched by Hezbollah into northern Israel earlier in the day. The attacks, which included Fadi-1 rockets targeting the kibbutz Kabri, were described by Hezbollah as defensive measures against what they termed Israeli “barbaric” aggression.
Israeli jets bombarded Hezbollah strongholds throughout southern Beirut overnight, resulting in significant destruction, including the flattening of several residential buildings. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) emphasized in a statement that “Hassan Nasrallah will no longer be able to terrorize the world,” framing the operation as a critical step in their broader campaign against Hezbollah’s military capabilities.
