Guwahati: An alleged fraudster has been arrested by the Arunachal Police in Guwahati for allegedly duping and scamming several contractors.
The accused, Sunil Baglary, is accused of being a fraudster who had been evading arrest in Guwahati for several days.
Baglary's alleged fraudulent activities involved large-scale financial deception, including forging the signature of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to embezzle substantial amounts.
According to reports, Baglary issued fake work orders for various government projects in West Bengal, deceiving contractors with promises of lucrative deals. One of the victims, a contractor from Arunachal Pradesh, was swindled out of approximately Rs 1.50 crore through these fraudulent means.
Following the contractor's complaint, a case was registered at the Doimukh Police Station in Arunachal Pradesh. The police tracked down Baglary and arrested him from Guwahati, where he had been hiding.
Investigations have revealed that Baglary had connections with several government officials in West Bengal.
He has been booked under various IPC sections, including 120(B), 406, 468, 471, 420, and 34. Further investigation is currently underway.
