September 22, 2023: Assam Police on Thursday night arrested four dacoits of a six-member gang in Tinsukia during a search operation.

Reportedly, the gang looted at a house of a man named Ashwini Dey in Pengeri by threatening his family. Home Guard police personnel is also suspected to be involved in the dacoity case.

The gang used sharp weapons to threaten the family and took away some jewellery worth more than Rs 2 lakh.

The arrested miscreants have been identified as Bijul Moran, Ratneswar baruah, Abhinash Orang, and Santosh Lama. On the other hand, the remaining two dacoits Prem Pator and Lachit Muda are still on the run.

Police have recovered two handmade guns, a sharp weapon and cash Rs 70000 from the dacoits.
