Atishi To Sworn In As Delhi's Youngest Chief Minister today

September 21, 2024: In a historic moment for Delhi, AAP leader Atishi will take the oath of office as the youngest Chief Minister of the capital today. The swearing-in ceremony is set for 4:30 PM at the Raj Bhavan and is expected to be a low-key event.

Joining Atishi in her new cabinet will be five key ministers: AAP veterans Gopal Rai, Kailash Gahlot, Saurabh Bharadwaj, and Imran Hussain, along with first-time MLA Mukesh Ahlawat, who represents Sultanpur Majra and is recognized as AAP's Dalit face.

Atishi's ascent comes after Arvind Kejriwal's unexpected resignation, which sent ripples through Delhi's political landscape. She was unanimously selected as the Chief Minister designate during a recent AAP legislature party meeting. The transition follows Kejriwal's recent Supreme Court bail in a corruption case tied to the controversial Delhi liquor policy scam.

As Chief Minister, Atishi is expected to tackle critical portfolios, as she previously managed 13 key areas, including finance, education, and power, under the outgoing government. The new council of ministers may see a reshuffling of portfolios, though specifics remain to be confirmed.
